The dangers of the “Common Core” educational standards were debated in the South Dakota Senate Education Committee Thursday.

The concurrent resolution called for the repeal of the standards that most states have agreed to adopt.

Those opposed to the standards says it’s a loss of local control.

The committee voted five to one to table the resolution, killing it for now.
