The U.S. Commerce Department has delayed their preliminary determination regarding the countervailing duty investigation on biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia to August. Earlier the National Biodiesel Board filed a countervailing and antidumping duty suit with the Commerce Department and International Trade Commission against Argentina and Indonesia. Biodiesel Board’s Vice President of Federal Affairs Anne Steckel says it’s not unusual to see a postponement in these type of cases.
She says there likely won’t be a final decision on their complaint until sometime next year.
Steckel says the amount of biodiesel imports from Argentina and Indonesia has created an unfair advantage for those countries.
The preliminary determination had been due no later than June 16 but with the delay now will be made August 21.
