Collective Bargaining Ruling Sparks Reaction From Nebraska Teachers’ Union

Nebraska’s only teachers’ union is disappointed about the Supreme Court ruling that struck down an Illinois law requiring non-union members to pay collective bargaining fees.

Executive Director Maddie Fennell of the Nebraska State Education Association calls the ruling an attempt to cripple the Middle Class

Fennell says their union isn’t affected because membership is voluntary

The ruling has the potential to drastically reduce the amount of money unions that do require membership fees can collect, according to Fennell.
