As freezing temperatures sweep much of the US causing record lows, one species that not sweating the winter weather is the emerald ash Borer.
University of Nebraska-Lincoln Entomologist, Dr. Gary Brewer says those wishing for a cold-snap to eradicate borer populations are wishful thinking
Brewer says American populations of the Emerald Ash Borer remain steady in places much colder than Nebraska like Ohio
Brewer says one of the only way populations of invasive species like the ash borer can controlled is if other organisms become adapted to the species presence and start using it as a food source.
