The Sioux City Police Department is inviting the community to come have a free cup of coffee with their officers. Coffee With a Cop is a nationwide effort, funded by the Department of Justice, to build relationships between police and community members, and this Friday, Sioux City will be hosting the event at the McDonalds on Hamilton Boulevard. Officer Jason Allen says there is no agenda for that morning.

The event, starting at 8:00 am, not only gives residents the chance to meet their local officers, but it benefits the police department as well, according to Allen.

He says several officers will be available for about an hour Friday morning to meet with anyone who would like to talk over a free cup of coffee.
