A broad coalition representing 49 groups including the National Farmers Union is urging Congressional leadership to keep their promise to not cut crop insurance through the omnibus appropriations bill.
NFU President Roger Johnson says not only does the coalition not want crop insurance cut but also wants other farm programs protected.
He says time is running short for Congress to follow through on their promise.
Johnson says because crop insurance is the second largest part of the farm bill behind the nutrition program will mean it will be subject to further attacks to cut it.
Johnson says the proper time to talk about any cuts or adjustments to crop insurance is during the farm bill debate.
