The Coalition for Safe and Affordable Food which includes the American Soybean Association, National Corn Growers and American Farm Bureau are urging Congress to establish safety and labeling standards for food products made with genetically modified ingredients.  ASA President Ray Gaesser, an Iowa grower says having one federal standard would be more efficient and eliminate confusion, advance food safety and provide consistency.

Gaesser says the  problem with having different states each have their own labeling rules is it’s not only unworkable but it would be very costly for consumers.

Coalition members believe American families deserve safe, abundant and affordable food.
