A coalition of more than 200 organizations including the National Pork Producers Council, American Farm Bureau and U.S. Chamber of Commerce have formed the USMCA Coalition. The groups are pushing for ratification of the agreement between the U.S. ,Canada and Mexico. Nebraska Pork Producers Association Executive Director Al Juhnke says that’s a critical deal for all three countries economies.
He says for open markets to happen between the three countries, the current steel and aluminum tariffs must be lifted.
Juhnke says USMCA is also a very important agreement for pork producers.
U.S. agricultural exports to Canada and Mexico quadrupled from $8.9 billion in 1993 to $39 billion in 2017 during the original NAFTA.
