Coalition for a Prosperous America members are pleased with President Trump’s Executive order withdrawing the U.S. from the Trans Pacific Partnership. CPA CEO Michael Stumo says that shift in policy will benefit America’s farmers and ranchers.
He says future trade policy needs to address the nation’s large imbalance with our trading partners.
Stumo says future trade deals need to address currency manipulation as well as border adjustable tariffs and other barriers to fair market access.
Stumo says he’s also pleased to see the President wanting to redo NAFTA or at least withdraw from it. He says it would send a message to the rest of the world that the U.S. won’t be the consumer of last resort anymore.
