A new program through the Yankton Rural Area Health Education Center is offering Certified Nursing Assistant training in an attempt to find more workers for long-term care facilities in South Dakota. Sandy Viau Williams is the AHEC Executive Director and says demographics are behind the push for the “Rural Rewards- A Call To Care” Program.
She says the demand for CNAs creates an opportunity for anyone who may be considering a new career in health care.
The program includes 75 hours of training online, clinicals, and a certification exam. After completion, Viau Williams says participants are given further on the job training.
