A Nebraska legislative study committee co chaired by Senators Ken Haar and Tyson Larson have come up with recommendations for the Unicameral on addressing climate change. Senator Haar says the major recommendation is that the state needs to develop a climate change plan.
He says their committee also is calling for more study and climate change’s impact on agriculture.
Haar says if climate predictions come true, there may need to be a change in what crops are grown in Nebraska by the end of the century.
The Bi partisan Committee based most of its work on scientific research conducted by the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in looking at the possible impact of climate change in the state.
