The head of the state’s largest teachers’ union is visiting classrooms across Nebraska as school starts. Jenni Benson, president of the Nebraska State Education Association, says classroom safety remains one of the top worries of parents and she notes, educators are also concerned.
Benson says it’s vital to provide younger generations with tools outside the classroom, through established programs like F-F-A or Skills U-S-A, or a relatively new program called Educator Rising.
The N-S-E-A is a union representing some 28-thousand educators across Nebraska.
