Class Action Lawsuit Over SNAP Applications in Nebraska

A class action lawsuit over the time it takes Nebraska to process SNAP – or food stamps – applications is being settled.
The proposal requires the state Department of Health and Human Services to timely process at least 96-percent of SNAP applications for 25 out of 28 months.
Nebraska Appleseed attorney Molly McCleery says the agreement is good for those who need state-assistance.

McCleery says the proposed settlement between the state and Appleseed still needs court approval.

McCleery says when the lawsuit was filed, the state was taking longer than 30-days to process SNAP applications.
