We may be approaching spring, but the Yankton City Commission was talking about winter holidays at their meeting last night.
Parks and Rec Director Todd Larson had a proposal before the commission to buy new holiday lighting and decorations.

Larson says they would also buy some decorations for the historic light poles.

The commission had budgeted about seventeen thousand dollars for the project, but the estimate came in much higher. Commissioner Pauline Akland, who was on the committee looking at the decorations said it was a good package deal.

After adding in a storage option, the commission agreed to spend about thirty eight thousand dollars on the new decorations, which will be ready for use later this year.
