Voters in the City of Vermillion approved a home rule charter as part of the November election.

City Manager John Prescott says while approved, the city council has not implemented it yet…

Prescott says home rule gives cities the right to pass ordinances not prohibited by the legislature…

Prescott says they don’t have any plans to use the charter in the near future..

Voters approved the charter by a sixty to forty percent margin.
