A recent study by a Chicago consulting firm found that the retail market in Yankton is pretty well served, with little room for any more large stores. The report said more population and higher wages are the key to landing more of the large retail developments.

The City of Yankton bought about thirty acres of land from the state at the corner of 31st and Broadway with an eye toward retail development of some sort.

Mayor Dave Carda says they may have to rethink their strategy…

Carda says they still need a plan that will work in the long term…

Carda says the study should kick off some more planning…

The commission meets tonight (7pm) at the RTEC building.
