CHS Official Not Surprised Farmers Locking In Fuel Needs

Some Northern Plains farmers are locking in their gas and diesel supplies now in order to be ready for the spring planting season. Cenex Harvest State’s Manager of Refined Fuel Operations Mike Derickson says that’s not unusual this time of year for farmers to do that. He says the low prices we’re seeing are much lower than normal however.
Derickson says some grower’s are waiting for those fuel prices to dip even lower before they lock in their fuel needs for spring.
Derickson says no one can really predict how low those prices will go. He says back in 2008 prices had dipped but not to these recent levels. Derickson says it was just a few months later when they rose again.
