CHS announced this week the company is investing $2.8 billion in fertilizer maker, CF Industries, while dropping plans to build its own fertilizer plant in North Dakota. CHS Communications and Marketing Manager, Annette Degnan says after looking at the North Dakota project for three years, they decided it was too risky and costly to proceed.
Degnan says there are several advantages to partnering with CF Industries.
Degnan says by working with CF Industries, CHS can now serve more farmers.
CF Industries is the world’s largest publicly traded maker of nitrogen fertilizer, while CHS is the nation’s biggest farm cooperative and largest wholesaler of fertilizer.
