Chronic diseases could have a stunning financial and personal impact in South Dakota over the next few years. A study by the “Partnership to Fight Chronic Disease” found that the impact could be as high as one hundred thirteen billion dollars by the year 2030.
Candace DeMatteis was part of the study group…..

The study found that almost five hundred thousand people in the state had one chronic disease, and about one hundred ninety thousand had two or more chronic conditions.
DeMatteis says they are seeing more and more people with multiple conditions…

DeMatteis says those with chronic diseases often face rapidly rising costs…

DeMatteis says changes in individual health behaviors along with treatment advances could save people in the state over seventeen billion dollars and thirty one hundred lives a year, over the next fifteen years.
