Christmas Cookies Boosting Yankton’s Downtown

Yankton residents were able to do some holiday baking Friday without even turning on the oven. The annual Cookie Walk was held in the Dakota Theater downtown, where people lined up to buy Christmas cookies to benefit River Walk, a committee of young Yankton professionals. RiverWalk President, Katie Hunhoff, says the group is responsible for the sculptures located downtown along the river.

Hunhoff says the RiverWalk committee holds the Christmas cookie sale each year with the help of the community.

She says RiverWalk places sculptures downtown each May in order to increase the attractiveness and activity along city streets, and to help celebrate the vibrant downtown culture.
