China has decided not to appeal a World Trade Organization ruling. That ruling said China’s administration of their tariff rate quotas on wheat, rice and corn didn’t meet WTO obligations. U.S. Wheat Associate’s Steve Mercer says that’s positive.
He says this is the second time China has chosen not to challenge the WTO decision. He says the first involved China’s domestic support of wheat.
Mercer says the next thing his organization wants is an end to the trade war with China and removal of the retaliatory tariffs on U.S. wheat.
Chinese officials say they made their decision because they have respect for WTO rules and will earnestly fulfill their obligations and comply with the decision.
