This week while in Milwaukee, Chinese buyers agreed to purchase $ 2.3 billion of U.S. soy products. The announcement made at the Global Trade Exchange marks the second consecutive year of significant export sales. United Soybean Board Chairman Jim Call who farms near Madison, Minnesota says China remains a great customer for U.S. soybean farmers and this deal comes at a good time when producers are expecting to harvest a record crop.
Call says this agreement shows U.S. farmers continue to meet the needs of international customers and provide what they want when they want it.
He says this deal should allow the U.S. to meet or exceed record exports of $ 28 billion.
Last year China committed to buying $ 2.8 billion worth of U.S. soy during the U.S. Soy Global Trade Exchange that was held in Davenport, Iowa.
