Chef Nicholas Skajewski with Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls was the winter of the 31st South Dakota Pork Producers Council Taste of Elegance contest in Sioux Falls last night. National Pork Board President Steve Rommereim says the contest is a great way to showcase the versatility and wide array of pork cuts that can be used in entrees.
He says the Taste of Elegance has helped increase awareness of pork among chefs and that has translated to more pork dishes being offered by restaurants.
And Rommereim says consumer demand for pork has also been the ultimate benefit from the competition.
Chef Bob Allen with Ode to Food in Sioux Falls received second place. People’s Choice was awarded to Todd O’Riley of Dakota Magic Casino.
