The South Dakota Pork Producers Council held their 28th annual Taste of Elegance Contest last night in Sioux Falls. Area chefs created and prepared dishes using various cuts of pork for a panel of expert judges. This year’s winner was Chef Daniel Myers of Elite Catering of Sioux Falls. He won with a dish he dedicated to his children, called “Fairy Tale”.
He says the Taste of Elegance contest has helped him to refine his craft and broaden his use of pork as a chef.
Chef Ryan Tracy from Bros Brasserie Americano of Sioux Falls has also participated in the contest various times and says he likes cooking with pork for many reasons.
National Pork Board Director and Alcester, South Dakota pork producer Steve Rommereim says the contest has been very important in the growth of pork entrees on menus and demand by consumers.
This is Chef Myers third win. He also took top honors in 2011 and 2013.
