Six of the state’s top chefs competed in the South Dakota Pork Producers Council Taste of Elegance Contest in Sioux Falls on Sunday. Chef Bob Allen with Ode to Food and Drinks in Sioux Falls talks about the entrée he created for his first shot at competing in the culinary contest.
Chef Jordon Taylor, co-owner of Bread and Circus Sandwich Kitchen in Sioux Falls, says this was his first time competing the Taste of Elegance. However, he says they serve several pork dishes at their restaurant because of the ease of fabrication.
South Dakota Pork Producers Council 1st Vice President Craig Andersen says they created the Taste of Elegance Contest to enlist more chefs to cook with pork.
The judges rank the pork dishes based on creativity, appearance, proper cooking techniques and taste.
The winner was Chef Jordon Taylor of the Bread & Circus Sandwich Shop. People’s Choice went to Chef Bob Allen of Ode to Food & Drinks.
