Highway checkpoints are still in place on roads across the Cheyenne River and Ogallala Sioux Reservations.
South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem says an investigation into the checkpoints is continuing but wouldn’t give details..
The tribes have said the checkpoints are to limit the possible exposure of their people to the coronavirus.
Noem gave an ultimatum to the tribes last week which she says she doesn’t regret….
Noem says the state and tribes normally cooperate very well…
Noem had threatened to take the tribes to federal court over the checkpoints but no legal action has been filed yet.
