A bipartisan group of Senators led by Cory Booker of New Jersey and Mike Lee of Utah have reintroduced the Opportunities for Fairness in Farming or OFF Act. The Organization for Competitive Markets backs the legislation. OCM Executive Director Joe Maxwell says the measure provides accountability and transparency for the nation’s check off programs.

He says the legislation doesn’t reduce any of the funding going into check off programs.

Maxwell says the dairy industry has the most to gain from passage of the OFF Act.

Maxwell thinks they have a better chance of getting the bill passed this session verses attempts to include it in the 2018 Farm Bill.
