South Dakota’s incoming Secretary of State has lots of ideas for changes in voting procedures, and will have a package ready for the 2015 legislature.

Shantel Krebs says she wants to change the procedures for certifying candidate petitions…

She recently met with the state elections board to get their input on her ideas.

Krebs says she wants to allow more time for people to challenge candidate petitions…

Krebs says issues that arose during petition filings and the primary were due to lack of clarity in election laws…

Krebs was elected last month. Current Secretary of State Jason Gant decided not to run for re-election.
