A major change in water management in South Dakota starts on July first with natural resource districts replacing water management districts.

Senator Jason Frerichs of Wilmot was the sponsor of the bill, and also a member of the “River Basin Natural Resource District Oversight Advisory Task Force” that will help manage the transition…

 

Frerichs says they want the new districts to be good neighbors…

The first changes will be in a pilot project in the Red – Minnesota River drainage area in northeast South Dakota.
