When business look to expand into smaller towns in South Dakota, they often run into problems finding enough housing for potential employees.

A development group is working on a program to help out.

Dakota Resources is launching what they call “Home Address” in an effort to help small communities develop more housing options.

Dakota Resources President Beth Davis says they want to help find housing options…

Davis says they help people in communities help themselves…

Davis says most home building in small towns in the state stopped in the 1970s. She says new regulations are also a barrier to new housing…

The program is taking applications from interested communities and will announce finalists in early June.  Dakota Resources will then work with those communities for the next year helping them develop their housing options.
