The House is set to mark up the Commodity Futures Trading Commission or CFTC Reauthorization Bill. House Ag Committee Chair Michael Conaway says they are reintroducing the Customer Protection and End-User Relief Act that passed the House in 2014 and was not taken up by the Senate. The bill is designed to help the markets function properly so end users can manage their business and mitigate risk.
The bill enhances stability, integrity and confidence in the futures, swaps, options and derivatives markets to protect against another MF Global debacle.
Authorization for the CFTC lapsed in September 2013.
