The Center for Rural Affairs says while Nebraska State Senators took an initial first step in providing some relief for property taxes this session, more needs to be done in 2021. CFRA Policy Director Johnathan Hladik says LB 1107 was better than nothing, although more incentives are needed for small businesses going forward.

He says it’s critical State Senators work hard the next two sessions to provide incentives for small rural businesses.

Hladik says legislators have much to do next session and need to take another run at providing more significant property tax relief.

Hladik says another issue the Center wants the Unicameral to tackle in January is to work on providing more opportunities for growing small meat locker businesses.
