It’s taken several months however the implementation of Medicaid Expansion in Nebraska is set to begin August 1 with low income working age adults able to start applying then for Medicaid coverage. Medicaid care would then begin October 1. Center for Rural Affairs Policy Director Johnathan Hladik says having that coverage available will be beneficial for several Nebraskans.

He says there will be many who will qualify for Medicaid coverage in Nebraska’s rural communities., partially because of the negative impacts of the COVID 19 pandemic.

Hladik says it’s taken a long time to get this expansion moving forward for implementation.

Hladik says because its taken the state so long to move ahead with Medicaid Expansion, the implementation will be very costly.
