The U.S. Department of Agriculture is investing $10 million in a new initiative to sample, measure and monitor soil carbon in Conservation Reserve Program Acres. Center for Rural Affairs Senior Policy Associate Kayla Bergman is pleased the USDA is moving ahead with this program as this will show how effective climate practices are that farmers are utilizing.

She hopes the USDA also includes other conservation programs in tracking this type of carbon information.

Bergman says getting more of this data through this program is critical to helping out farmers and benefitting the environment.

Bergman says anyone wanting more information on this USDA program can contact the Center for Rural Affairs.
