Center for Rural Affairs Executive Director Brian (duh-pyoo) Depew testified at an Environmental Protection Agency hearing in Denver on climate change. Depew says climate change needs to be addressed or it will be costly for agriculture.
The EPA is holding a series of hearings around the country on impacts of climate change.
Depew says farmers and ranchers can benefit from taking various steps to address climate change with their practices and land stewardship.
He says most producers are good environmentalists and are concerned about possible impacts from climate change.
Depew says EPA’s proposed carbon rule is focused on power plants and he says agriculture has an opportunity to be a solution to that problem with wind energy.
