Central SD Standoff Continues

South Dakota Highway Patrol Superintendent Colonel Craig Price says negotiations continued throughout the night in the Brule County standoff. 42 year old Donald London remains barricaded in his home northwest of Kimball.

Price says 66 year old Michael London, of Kimball, was arrested on one count of accessory to aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer,a class 5 felony.

Price says the South Dakota Highway Patrol Trooper who was injured as part of this incident was Sergeant John Koenig. Price says Koenig is a 28 year veteran with the patrol who was stationed in Chamberlain, S.D. His condition remains stable.
Price says they have not determined what set off the situation……

Price says they continue to actively negotiate with London……

Price says they will make decisions based on how those negotiations proceed…

This incident has involved a large number of law enforcement officers and emergency responders. SWAT teams from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office and S.D. Highway Patrol have been involved since yesterday and Command Posts from South Falls Police Department and the Division of Criminal Investigation have been activated. Tactical vehicles from three agency locations have deployed in response to the incident.
