Center for Rural Affairs Officials are urging Congress to get the farm bill passed during their lame duck session. That despite reports that possibility is looking bleak. Center’s Policy Director Jonathan Hladik says the measure needs to be completed before January 1.

He says several needed programs will lose funding if the farm bill isn’t passed and it also will create even more uncertainty for farmers.

Hladik says Congress needs to get over all the political bickering and posturing and pass the farm bill.

House Ag Committee leadership met briefly early this week but appears no decisions have been made.
