Center For Rural Affairs Unhappy Payment Limits Watered Down

It appears as if conferees have watered down the payment limit provision that passed both houses of Congress from the final farm bill package. Center for Rural Affairs Senior Associate for Ag and Conservation Policy Traci Bruckner who’s in Washington DC this week says that’s disappointing. She says the major payment limit actively engaged in farming provision has been taken completely out of the farm bill language.

Bruckner says conferees have already eliminated direct payments and have replaced them with a shallow loss revenue provision. She says the move to water down payment limits could force them to oppose the entire farm bill.

Bruckner expects the farm bill to go to the House floor on Wednesday.
