Center for Rural Affairs Says President Candidates Not Talking About Agriculture

Center for Rural Affairs Says President Candidates Not Talking About Agriculture

The Center for Rural Affairs is disappointed with the lack of attention given to agriculture in the 2020 election by most of the Presidential candidates. CFRA Policy Director Jonathan Hladik says one exception is Democrat candidate John Hickenlooper from Colorado wants more funding for USDA rural development, higher farm loan rates and expanded broadband access. He says while they don’t endorse candidates, they want more attention given to those issues.

He says agriculture needs to be a major part of any political discussion.

Hladik says voters, especially those in rural areas, need to get involved in the election process.

Hladik says the Center for Rural Affairs continues to listen to the candidates, evaluating their policies and weighing in when necessary.
