The Center for Rural Affairs in Lyons, Nebraska has rolled out their platform for the next farm bill. Policy Associate Anna Johnson says they want the new farm legislation to provide a strong safety net for farmers. That includes higher crop insurance premium subsidies for those who implement conservation practices.

She says they also want farmers who plant cover crops to get full crop insurance benefits.

And Johnson says those crop insurance payments should be capped.

Johnson says it’s important the new farm bill have a robust conservation program with more funding for CSP and EQIP. Farmers can get more information on their farm bill platform on their website.
