Center for Rural Affairs officials are monitoring the reorganization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Rural Affairs Policy Program Associate Anna Johnson says what they’re most concerned about is what happens with rural development.
She says one of the specific rural development areas they want preserved is the value added producer grant program.
Johnson says the other rural development area that’s critical for beginning farmers and ranchers is the micro enterprise assistance program.
Johnson says it’s too early to tell what the impacts will be from the USDA reorganization.
