Center For Rural Affairs Members Say Farm Bill Must Be Passed This Year

Time is running short for House-Senate conferees to completed a new farm bill with the current one expiring at the end of the month and Congress out the week of September 17. That’s concerning for the Center for Rural Affairs. Policy Associate Cora Fox says the farm legislation needs to be approved on time to give farmers certainty going forward as well as funding for needed programs.

She says without new legislation in place, many needed programs will not be available.

Fox says one of the major small programs CFRA want to see in the farm is the Rural Microentreprenuer Assistance program.

Fox encourages farmers and ranchers to weigh in with their members of Congress and ask them to get the farm bill passed.
