Tuesday, Center for Rural Affairs members took to the Capital steps in Lincoln to call for support of health care legislation being offered by State Senator John McCollister of Omaha. Rural Affairs Senior Policy Associate Traci Bruckner says the legislation will give health care access to those currently uninsured.
She says the premium assistance comes from the Federal Affordable Care Act. Bruckner says this state measure is important for many farmers and ranchers who quality for the assistance.
Bruckner says not only farmers and ranchers qualify for those coverage but also a large number of Nebraska citizens.
Bruckner says McCollister’s bill is modeled after legislation proposed in both Iowa and Arkansas.
