Proposed legislation to provide close to $ 30 million in property tax credits is expected to be debated on the floor of the Unicameral today. The Center for Rural Affairs testified in committee against the bill. Rural Affairs Senior Policy Associate Traci Bruckner says while property tax relief is badly needed doesn’t think the legislation does enough to help farmers and ranchers.

She says another major problem with the bill is there isn’t any funding contained in it.

Bruckner says State Senators need to provide targeted help for landowners.

Bruckner says it’s concerning lawmakers have been talking about property tax reform for three years and have not passed any comprehensive legislation to deal with it.
