The Center for Rural Affairs is reminding Nebraska producers they have until November 20 to apply for the Conservation Stewardship Program at their local NRCS office. Rural Affairs Policy Assistant Andrea Hartman says CSP is a valuable program for farmers and ranchers who want to install especially new conservation practices or want to add to what they’re already doing.
She says producers need to work with their NRCS technicians to develop a conservation plan when they enroll in CSP.
Hartman says when producers participate in CSP they’re incentivized to put in their conservation practices and get rewarded for that.
Hartman says those interested in CSP should phone their local NRCS office and make an appointment prior to the November 20 deadline in Nebraska. She says deadlines are different in different states. Hartman says South Dakota has not yet announced their deadline but signup is expected sometime in the spring of 2021.
