Caution Needed With Fireworks Displays

Everyone loves a backyard fireworks display or attending a big show on the 4th of July. Douglas County Nebraska Health Department Director Dr. Adi Pour doesn’t want to rain on anyone’s celebration but says those with certain health conditions should limit their time outdoors due to the heavy smoke.

That particulate matter includes dust, dirt, smoke and soot.
Dr. Pour says this was also a problem earlier this week when the air quality was impacted by wildfires in Canada.

Dr. Pour says those with respiratory problems, heart disease, the elderly, small children and those with asthma should watch fireworks upwind and keep away from smoke.
