Senator John Thune and Congresswoman Kristi Noem have been named to the conference committee that will iron out a final tax reform measure. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Larry Stomprud says he’s pleased they’re on the committee and that should bode well for passage in the tax bill on one of their priorities which is elimination of the estate tax.

He says while both the House and Senate legislation have many similarities there are differences that will have to be worked out. Stomprud says both measures are positive for agriculture.

Stomprud says the sooner the conference committee can get the bill done the better as that would give farmers and ranchers certainty moving forward.

The House version of the tax bill calls for repeal of the estate tax while the Senate measure makes some adjustments to it.
