Governor Kristi Noem’s Ag Development and Zoning Legislation passed the State Senate on Friday and is headed to the House. South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association President Eric Jennings says although the Senate added some amendments, the intent and bulk of the bill remains the same and if approved will help spur more ag and overall economic development in the state.

He says the legislation will help South Dakota’s rural economy, provide a good smooth process for counties on their conditional use permit process and hamper anti ag efforts to stop development.

Jennings is optimistic about the bill’s chances in the House but urges individuals to make their views known to their lawmakers.

Jennings says they’re waiting for House leadership to schedule a committee hearing for the bill.
