Last month, a group of Iowans traveled to China on a trade mission led by Governor Kim Reynolds. Joining the group was Iowa Cattlemen’s Association President Mike Cline. He says they had a successful trip building relationships and meeting with prospective ag commodity customers.
He says while the recent beef market opening has been positive it will take time to get more product to China.
Cline says Iowa is in a good position to sell the Chinese beef, pork, soybeans and corn.
Cline says having former Governor Terry Branstad in China as the new U.S. Ambassador was helpful to the delegation in speaking with Chinese officials and commodity buyers.
