A House-Senate Conference committee is expected to move on a six year transportation bill sometime this week. Nebraska Cattlemen’s Association President Dave McCracken says they back a long term measure but are disappointed the bill won’t contain an amendment calling for heavier truck weights.
McCracken says having an extra axle and heavier truck weights is actually safer. He’s hoping they be able to get that amendment in transportation legislation next time around.
He says it’s good lawmakers are looking at a six year transportation bill because states need certainty and continuity is important in any legislation going forward.
